Act soon Benefits August 4, 2026

Apply for the Affordable Child Care Benefit early.

The Affordable Child Care Benefit is BC’s monthly help with child care fees, paid according to family income, family size, and the kind of care you use. For many families it covers a large share of the monthly fee.

The family applies, not the centre, and processing can take a few weeks. If your child starts in September, the time to apply is now, so the benefit is in place for your first bill rather than months later.

You will not find dollar figures in this write-up on purpose: rates change, and the official estimator is always current. It takes a few minutes and tells you what your family would receive.

Changed Rules July 18, 2026

New consumer rules cover child care agreements.

BC updated its consumer protection rules this summer, and child care agreements are covered.

For parents it means clearer contracts: what you pay, what notice looks like, and what happens to deposits. If an agreement you are offered anywhere is vague on those three points, ask why.

We are having our own enrolment agreement reviewed against the new rules before our first signing day.
